macOS
Apple silicon & Intel · macOS 11+- 1Open the downloaded
.dmgand drag Orbit Finance into your Applications folder. - 2Open it from Applications. macOS asks once whether you’re sure, because you downloaded it. Click Open.
- 3That’s it. Create your books and start working. No key is needed for the first 3 months.
Signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so there's no security warning to work around.
Windows
Windows 10 & 11 · 64-bit- 1Edge or Chrome may say the file “isn’t commonly downloaded” and hide it. Click the … beside the download, then Keep. If it asks a second time, choose Keep anyway.
- 2Run the downloaded
.exeinstaller. - 3If you see the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen, click More info, then Run anyway.
- 4Follow the installer prompts. Orbit Finance opens when it finishes.
Windows asks twice, once in the browser and once when the installer runs. Both are the same thing: the file is new, so Windows has not seen it enough times yet.
Android
Android 7.0+ · built for tablets- 1Download the
.apkon the tablet itself, then tap it in your notifications or Downloads. - 2Android asks whether to allow installs from that app (your browser or Files). Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
- 3If Play Protect warns that the app is from an unknown developer, tap Install anyway. It says that about every app not installed from the Play Store.
Not on Google Play. To update later, download the newer file and install it over the top. Your books stay put.
Chromebook
ChromeOS · Linux on- 1Turn on Linux: Settings, About ChromeOS, Developers, then Linux development environment. It takes a few minutes, once.
- 2Download the
.debfor your chip. Not sure? Open Terminal, click penguin and typedpkg --print-architecture: amd64 is Intel / AMD, arm64 is ARM. - 3Double-click the file in Files and choose Install. Keep the Chromebook awake until the notification says it finished, about 2 to 3 minutes. Then open Orbit Finance from the Launcher’s Linux apps folder.
If it fails
- “Failed to retrieve app info”: the download is incomplete. Delete every Orbit
.debin Downloads and download again. - “dpkg was interrupted”: an earlier install was cut off. In Terminal run
sudo dpkg --configure -a, thensudo apt-get -f install -y, then install again.
To update later, install the newer .deb over the top. Your books stay put.
What happens after you download?
Is the download free?
Yes. Download and install the full app free. A licence key is required when you are ready to use it for your books.
How do updates work?
Download the newer installer and install it over the existing app. Your books remain in place.
Will installing an update remove my books?
No. The installer updates the app. Your local books remain on your device.
Can I back up before updating?
Yes. Orbit Finance includes manual backup options, so you can keep a separate copy before an update.
Which Chromebook file should I use?
Use amd64 for Intel or AMD chips and arm64 for ARM chips such as MediaTek or Snapdragon.
