How to build your Form C tax computation

This module builds the Form C tax computation for Sdn Bhd companies. It bridges accounting profit and taxable income by adding back non-deductibles and deducting capital allowances. You can review the working sheet, add manual adjustments, check SME status, and set CP204 estimates. Only a confirmed tax payment posts to your accounts.

What is this module for?

This screen is for companies (Sdn Bhd) to build the Form C tax computation. It is not for sole proprietors or partnerships. It calculates chargeable income by adjusting net profit for tax rules. It acts as a working paper for your tax agent, and the computation itself does not post to your accounts.

How do I read the computation?

  1. Open Company Tax and choose Computation to see the SME badge and year of assessment.
  2. Check Net profit per accounts, which is taken directly from your Profit and Loss.
  3. Review Depreciation (per accounts) under Add: non-deductible, as it is added back automatically.
  4. Check Capital allowances (Sch 3) under Less: allowances, which are filled from your Fixed Assets register.
  5. Look at Chargeable income and Tax payable to see the final tax figure and effective rate.
  6. Scroll to Capital allowance schedule to see the asset-by-asset working and basis used.
  7. Review Capital allowance rates to see the IA and AA percentages for the year.
  8. Press Working sheet (PDF) to preview and print the full computation.

How do I add my own adjustments?

  1. Press Add adjustment to enter items the app does not handle automatically.
  2. Set Type to Add back (non-deductible) for disallowed expenses or Less (deduction) for extra relief.
  3. Write a clear Description, such as entertainment or fines, so you understand it later.
  4. Enter the Amount in RM and press Save to update the chargeable income immediately.
  5. Remove a line by pressing the small cross beside its amount.

How do I check the SME profile?

  1. Fill in Paid-up capital in RM, which is the first test for SME status.
  2. Fill in the MSIC code if you know it for filing paperwork.
  3. Leave SME status on Auto or set Force SME or Force Non-SME if you know your position.
  4. Press Save to update the badge and rate bands, as a wrong setting changes the tax figure.

How do I set the CP204 estimate?

  1. Type your estimate into Tax estimate, using the computed tax as a starting point.
  2. Press Save estimate to see the Monthly instalment and Computed tax figures.
  3. Check for red warnings if the computed tax is far above your estimate, indicating a potential penalty.
  4. Choose Submission to record CP204A revisions or the Final computation details.
  5. For payments, choose the tax payable or prepaid account and bank account, then review the journal.

How do I check the audit exemption?

  1. Scroll to Audit exemption to see if your company size requires an audit.
  2. Review the Zero-revenue route and Threshold-qualified route, as passing either is enough.
  3. Check each item to see your actual figure against the limit.
  4. Override the Employees count by typing a number and pressing Save, or clear it to auto-count.
  5. Read the small print, as the app checks only the current year, so confirm with your company secretary.

What this does to your books

The computation, adjustments, profile, CP204 estimate and submission records post nothing. The tax bill is not recorded as an expense or a liability, and the standard chart of accounts has no account for either; to book it you add the accounts yourself and post a manual journal. The only posting here: confirming a tax payment creates a journal from the selected tax payable or prepaid account against the selected bank account, shown for review first.

Questions, answered

Does Company Tax post to my accounts?

No, the computation and adjustments do not post to your accounts. Only confirming a tax payment posts a journal, between the tax payable or prepaid account and the bank account you select. To record the tax expense itself, add the accounts yourself and post a manual journal.

Can I use this for a sole proprietorship?

No, this screen is for Sdn Bhd companies filing Form C. Sole proprietors and partnerships do not file Form C. Their business profit is taxed on the Income Tax screen.

Why is my capital allowance zero?

The schedule is built from your Fixed Assets register. If an asset was never entered, it gets no allowance. Check your register to ensure all assets are recorded correctly.
