What is this module for?
It estimates RPGT from acquisition price and date, disposal price and date, allowable costs, and disposer type. It uses the original Fixed Asset cost as an optional starting point. It never uses the depreciated book value.
How do I estimate tax and proceeds?
- Choose a Fixed Asset or enter its original acquisition price and date manually.
- Enter the proposed disposal price, disposal date and only costs allowed by the RPGT rules.
- Choose the disposer type.
- If you are an eligible citizen or permanent resident making the once-in-a-lifetime private-residence election, tick it deliberately.
- Read the gain, exemption, chargeable gain, holding year and rate before relying on the tax. Net proceeds are the sale price less your entered costs and the estimated RPGT.
How is the holding year calculated?
The engine measures the holding year by exact anniversaries. A disposal on the anniversary moves into the next bucket. The rate depends on this specific year.
When should I select the private-residence election?
This option is shown only for a citizen or permanent resident. You should select it only after confirming the disposal qualifies. It is a once-in-a-lifetime exemption for a qualifying private residence.
What does this module do to my accounts?
This is a planning estimate. It reads an asset's original details but posts nothing. It changes no asset and saves no election. Record the actual disposal and tax only from completed documents and professional tax working.
