How to plan and track debt payoff in Orbit

Debt Planner turns your liabilities into a single payoff date. You set a monthly amount, choose an order, and see the finish line. It tracks what you actually paid against your plan. Note that logging payments here does not post to your accounts or update your cash records.

What is Debt Planner for?

This module reads liabilities from your Net Worth screen, such as cards or loans. It simulates how long it takes to clear them based on your monthly budget and chosen strategy. It tracks your logged payments against that plan but does not create the debts or post to your books.

How do I set up a payoff plan?

  1. Press Set up a plan.
  2. Type the Monthly payment in RM for all debts combined.
  3. Check the minimum total beside the box. Plans below this are refused.
  4. Press Calculate to see Snowball and Avalanche options.
  5. Compare the Debt-free in date and Total interest on each card.
  6. Press Commit to this plan on your chosen strategy.

How do I log a payment?

  1. Find the debt card and press Log payment.
  2. Change the Amount from the default minimum to what you actually paid.
  3. Set the Date to when the money left your account.
  4. Add a Note if needed.
  5. Read Balance after this payment to confirm the result.
  6. Press Log payment.
  7. Record the same outflow in Cash In & Out if you keep a cash record.

How do I check if I am on pace?

  1. Look at the strip under the debt-free date for On pace or Behind.
  2. Read the figures showing logged payments against your commitment.
  3. Check debt cards for a red Overdue badge if a due day passed.
  4. Remember that only logged payments count toward your pace.

How do I undo a wrong payment?

  1. Press Show payments on the debt card.
  2. Press the small red cross beside the payment.
  3. The row is removed and the balance increases by that amount.
  4. Delete the corresponding entry in Cash In & Out if you made one.

What this does to your books

Committing to a plan posts nothing. Logging a payment lowers the debt balance and raises net worth, but it does not post to the Trial Balance, Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet, and it does not record money leaving your bank. Paying more than the balance stops it at zero; the excess is not moved to another debt. Undoing a payment puts the balance back up by the same amount.

Questions, answered

Does logging a payment in Debt Planner update my bank account?

No. Logging a payment only reduces the debt balance in this module. It does not record money leaving your bank account or post to your books. You must enter the payment in Cash In & Out separately if you keep a cash record.

What is the difference between Snowball and Avalanche?

Snowball pays the smallest balance first to clear debts sooner. Avalanche pays the highest interest rate first to reduce total interest costs. The app shows both totals so you can compare the exact ringgit difference before choosing.

Why does my plan say Behind even if I paid this month?

The pace check compares your cumulative logged payments against your committed monthly amount over time. If you have not logged a payment, it counts as missed. The badge does not check your bank account, only what you have entered in the app.
