What is a deposit slip for?
A deposit slip is a list of cash and cheques handed over at the bank counter. It acts as a bridge between your individual receipts and the single line on your bank statement. It is a record, not an accounting entry, so it does not change your account balances.
How do I prepare a slip for banking?
- Press New deposit slip to open the form.
- Set the Date to the day you are taking the money to the bank.
- Choose the Bank account the money is going into.
- Fill the first line with type Cash, a Description, and the Amount in RM.
- Press Add cash for more cash lines, or Add cheque for cheques.
- Check the running totals for Cash, Cheques, and Total.
- Do not enter the takings again as cash in. They were recorded when they arrived, and a second entry doubles your income.
- Add any details the teller needs in Notes, then press Save.
How do I use the slip to reconcile the bank?
- Use Match bank statement from Cash In and Out.
- Find the single large credit on the statement that does not match one row.
- Come back to Deposit Slips, search for that date, and open the slip with the same total.
- Read the lines to identify the individual receipts.
- Tick those rows as reconciled in Match bank statement and press Mark reconciled.
How do I correct, print, or remove a slip?
- Click a row or the eye button to preview the slip.
- Press Save PDF to keep a copy for your records.
- Press the pencil button to edit details, then press Save.
- Press the red bin button to delete a duplicate slip.
- Note that changes are blocked if the financial year is closed.
