How to use the Tax Advisor checklist

Tax Advisor is a checklist that reads your company tax figures and points out items a tax agent would normally raise. It highlights unused donation headroom, small assets, low instalment estimates, and rate bands. It writes nothing to your accounts. Treat each finding as a starting point to discuss with your licensed tax agent.

What is the Tax Advisor for?

The module uses fixed rules to review your existing tax figures. It identifies potential savings or risks, such as unused donation limits or assets under RM2,000. Each finding cites the relevant law or LHDN ruling. It does not provide professional advice, so you must verify all points with a tax agent before acting.

How do I turn on the advisor?

  1. Open Features & Integrations from the avatar menu at the top right.
  2. Find Company Tax (Form C + CP204) under Tax & compliance and switch it on.
  3. Find Dynamic Tax Advisor in the same group and switch it on.
  4. Open Tax Advisor from the sidebar under Tax.

How do I read a finding?

  1. Read the badge first: Opportunity, Action needed, or Note.
  2. Read the amount on the right, which is an estimate of the tax effect.
  3. Read the finding and the suggested action line with the tick.
  4. Read the small italic line at the bottom for the legal citation.

How do I get a plain language explanation?

  1. Press Explain with AI on any card.
  2. Wait for the paragraph to appear underneath the card.
  3. Read the explanation against the finding above it.
  4. Trust the finding if the explanation differs, as findings use fixed rules.
  5. If AI is on but no provider is connected, the box shows the suggested action already printed on the card.

How do I check a point before acting?

  1. Take the finding to the screen that owns the underlying figures.
  2. Confirm the figures are actually right in your books.
  3. Check the cited ruling for your own year of assessment. Thresholds such as the RM2,000 asset test and the 10 percent donation limit are built into this version and a Budget can move them.
  4. Treat donation headroom with care: the app uses 10 percent of chargeable income, which is not the statutory limit. Work the real limit out with your tax agent.
  5. Send anything material to your tax agent before it goes on a return.

What this does to your books

This screen writes nothing. It posts no debits, no credits, and it does not even save its own record. It reads, it suggests, and it stops there.

Questions, answered

Does Tax Advisor post to my accounts?

No, it does not. The screen writes nothing to the database. It only reads your existing figures and suggests actions. Any changes must be made on the screens that own the underlying data, such as Fixed Assets or Company Tax.

What if AI is switched off in settings?

The Explain with AI button will not be shown. However, the findings themselves remain unchanged because they are generated by fixed rules, not by a model. The app makes no model call when AI is off.

Is the estimated saving figure guaranteed?

No, it is an estimate. The app multiplies the amount by a rough effective rate from your computation. If your chargeable income is zero, it assumes a 17 percent rate. You should verify all figures with a licensed tax agent.
