What is the Calculator module for?
This is an ordinary calculator for checking numbers. It exists because verifying a figure is different from recording it. It opens as a block rather than a page, so your invoice or bill stays on screen. Nothing you type is saved, and closing the block discards the working.
How do I perform a sum?
- Press the Calculators button in the top bar and choose Calculator.
- The block opens on the right, and your current screen remains visible.
- Press keys or type digits, operators, Enter for equals, Escape to clear, or Backspace.
- Check the line above the answer to see any pending operations.
- Close the block with the cross when finished. The total is not kept.
How do I reuse a previous answer?
- Look under History for finished sums, listed newest first with working shown.
- Press a line to put its answer back on the display.
- Use this to avoid re-typing figures, which is how a wrong one gets into an invoice.
- Note that Clear empties the list, and closing the block also empties it.
How do I chain a longer sum?
- Type the first number, press an operator, type the next number, and press the next operator.
- The running total appears immediately as you type.
- If you press the wrong operator, press the correct one before typing the next number.
What does the percent key do?
The percent key divides the display by a hundred. It does not add a percentage to the total. To add ten percent to RM 200, type 200, multiply, then 1.1. Use the tax and margin calculators for tax rates or margins, as this tool only handles basic arithmetic.
