What is this module for?
This module is the household view of your money. It shows income, spending, and net balance by category. It is for personal or family use, not for company books. It has no ledger of its own. It reads the same rows as the business Cash In & Out screen. If you mix personal and business money in one file, the data will be wrong for both.
How do I open the screen?
- In the sidebar, look under the Personal finance group and press Income & Expenses.
- Check the heading. It should read Income & Expenses.
- Note that there is no Add transaction button here.
- If you need to change a figure, go to Cash In & Out and edit the row there.
What do the top number cards show?
- Income shows all cash in for the whole current financial year.
- Spending shows all cash out for the same financial year.
- Net is Income minus Spending. Green means you kept money, red means you spent more.
- Check the year printed under the title to confirm the period.
How do I read the charts?
- The Spending by category donut shows this calendar month only.
- The Income vs expenses bars show the last six calendar months.
- A missing bar means no figure is available for that month.
- Do not compare the cards to the charts directly. They cover different time periods.
How do I find where money is going?
- Scroll to the Income by category and Spending by category lists.
- These lists cover the full financial year and are ranked biggest first.
- Look at the top few lines in Spending by category to find major costs.
- If a category looks wrong, search for it in Cash In & Out to fix the rows.
