Getting started

Set up Orbit HR in a few minutes

Thanks for your purchase. Follow these steps to install Orbit HR, activate your license, and get your employee records in. Your people data stays on your device: local-first, by design.

    Download for your platform

    Use the download link from your purchase email. Orbit HR is built for macOS and Windows, with an Android companion app in development. We’ll email you the moment your platform’s build is ready.

    The Downloads page always shows the current status for each platform.

    Install the app

    Orbit HR is safe but not code-signed yet, so each OS shows a one-time prompt. The full step-by-step (with screenshots of the exact buttons) is on the Downloads page. In short:

    • macOS: open the .dmg, drag Orbit HRto Applications, then if it’s blocked go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
    • Windows: run the .exe; if SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway.
    • Android (when available): enable “Install unknown apps”, then open the .apk.

    Paste your license key

    On first launch, Orbit HR asks for your license key. Copy it from your purchase email and paste it in. Your key is tied to your email and works on up to two of your devices. No internet connection is needed to activate.

    Complete the setup wizard

    The wizard walks you through your company details, your EPF, SOCSO, EIS and LHDN employer numbers, your HRD Corp registration, the payroll cycle you run, and the state your staff work in (that sets the right public holidays). Get these right once and every payslip, statutory file and EA form after that is correct by default. You can change any of it later in Settings.

    Add your employees

    Already keep staff records in a spreadsheet? Go to Settings → Datato import them, or add employees one by one. You’ll need each person’s NRIC, salary, EPF, SOCSO and income tax numbers, and their bank details for the salary file. Import as many as you like: the license has no per-employee fee. All of it stays on your device, encrypted at rest.
