Statutory coverage, and how it is maintained
Malaysian payroll is not one percentage. EPF follows a schedule (Jadual Ketiga) with a different employer rate above and below the RM5,000 monthly wage threshold. What happens if you stop paying
With a subscription, access usually ends with the billing relationship, including access to historical payroll you are legally expected to retain. With a one-time licence the software keeps running. Either can be fine, but know which one you are buying.
Outputs, not just calculations
A payroll run is only finished when the paperwork is. Check for payslips, the year-end EA form, Borang A, Borang 8A, CP39, and a salary payment file your bank will actually accept.

Annual leave tiers by years of service, sick and hospitalisation caps, maternity and paternity, and public holidays that differ by state. If leave is a separate spreadsheet, it will drift from payroll.
